  • BASIC TRACK
  • Your basic track is the foundation of your record. Points will be given on how it supports your production rhythmically, musically, how it supports the vocal, and overdubs. The quality of the musicianship will also be a factor.

  • SONG STRUCTURE
  • Did you follow solid song structure? Are the sections balanced and do they express tension and release?

  • VOCALS
  • Your vocals are the center point of your production. You will be evaluated on how the vocal was technically recorded. How the vocal was produced. Does the vocal sound fit the mood of the track. Is it sibilant (too many “s’s”), over compressed or under compressed etc. Also, how well you produced your vocal in relation to pitch, phrasing, timing and emotion.

  • OVERDUBS
  • The “Sweetening” you add to your record can add or subtract significantly to the overall effect you get in your final presentation. You will be judged on what you added. Did your elements move in harmony with your song structure. Were there too many or not enough?
